President Trump has just announced his Executive Order to roll-back the Clean Power Plan.
By doing so, he begins the process of weakening climate and public health protections that would otherwise prevent up to 3,600 premature deaths and 90,000 asthma attacks annually in 2030, as well as prevent 300,000 missed days of work and school.
The power companies Duke, AEP, and Southern Company are the top 3 coal-burning companies in the country, responsible for hundreds of millions of tons of CO2, smog & soot every year. These companies would be the big winners if Trump gets his way.
Sign this petition and urge the companies to follow the Clean Power Plan despite Trump's efforts. If they choose profits over public health, urge them to prioritize and promote efforts to allow their customers to choose clean energy sources, even if the companies still operate coal-fired power plants.
Asthma is one of the leading causes of missed school days. It's outrageous to me as a parent that President Trump would sacrifice kids' health to try to delay the move to clean energy.
Please follow the Clean Power Plan despite President Trump's efforts to overturn the rule. If you are unwilling to go beyond the public health protections required by federal agencies, we urge you to prioritize and promote efforts to allow your customers to choose and subsidize clean energy sources, even if you still operate coal-fired power plants.
