Let Carol the Circus Elephant Retire in Peace!

  • by: Chris Wolverton
  • recipient: Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey Circus

Performing elephant Carol was targeted and injured by a still-unknown assailant in a 2013 drive-by shooting. Carol thankfully made a full recovery, but rather than retire her to a safe life in an animal sanctuary, Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey Circus made her perform on April 3, 2014.

Carol's shooter was never caught and likely still at large. Forcing the elephant to perform after such a tragedy leaves her vulnerable to repeat shooting attempts. After suffering from her bullet wound, Carol should be spared from performing and allowed to live the rest of her days in peace.

Please sign the petition to urge Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey Circus to let Carol the elephant retire in a sanctuary!

As you know, your performing elephant Carol was targeted and injured by a still-unknown assailant in a 2013 drive-by shooting. Carol thankfully made a full recovery, but we are concerned that you are continuing to have the elephant perform rather than let her retire to an animal sanctuary.

We respectfully urge you to let Carol the elephant retire in a sanctuary. Thank you for taking the time to read and consider our petition.
