No Child Should Walk To School In The Dark!

There is a no bus law here in Pasco County and other places that say if you live anywhere under the 2 mile mark from the school then you must walk or car ride. I live 1.9 miles away and do not have a car so my son has to walk to school everyday at 6:30 am when it is still very dark outside. Because of this my child was hit by a van upon trying to cross the road and get to school. My son now lays in critical condition for trying to be on time for an education.

I fully agree that an education is needed for everyone. What I don't agree with is making these children walk in the dark in order to receive one. This is putting our children in GREAT danger since drivers can't always see them crossing the road.

My goal is to raise awareness so that it can be fixed to ensure that no more children are hit walking to school in the dark.

Schools can either start at a later time, provide buses, or crossing guards on all busy roads to ensure these children's safety. Something has to change because if it happened to one child it can happen to another one. Let's come together to prevent it.
