The No vote will NOT accomplish what it set out to do. We cannot continually absorb increased taxes when BETTER OPTIONS are available. We voted in confidence for our current Fire Chief and Board to continue operating the station as a stand-alone station. We did NOT vote for a self-appointed budget committee to direct our Board of Commissioners or Fire Chief to increase our existing levy, keep our station understaffed, and limit the purchasing of equipment necessary for our firefighters to do their job.
Your signature will:
1) Demand a halt to any further discussions of a Budget Committee or any further external budget proposals;
2) Request the Commissioner to reconsider a 5 year contract with Eastside Fire and Rescue to be implemented as soon as possible.
3) Request that the commissioners consider placing the Merger on the next ballot or in 4 years' time with the intention of replacing the contract.
Fall City just likes their firefighters; they're heroes. We want to HELP the Fire Station, to provide them what they need to protect our lives and our homes, and to maintain the relationship between these public servants and our community. This will not be accomplished with a standalone fire department; the writing is on the wall.
