Bring Long Road Distillery to Grand Haven

On March 6, 2019, the City of Grand Haven voted NO to Long Road Distillery's request to lease the historic depot building in downtown Grand Haven. The 3-2 vote was made based on the assumption that Long Road Distillery is not "family friendly" because they serve alcohol.

As a customer of Long Road Distillery (Grand Rapids), a Grand Haven resident, and mother of two, I believe this decision was made on false assumptions. Long Road Distillery is dedicated to honoring the craft of distilling and is not a "drunken threat" to the community. Here is why:

Their mission is clear: "HONOR THE CRAFT." How? Long Road Distillery does this by "using honest ingredients grown across the region, supporting the natural and agricultural resources of West Michigan." This resonates directly with the core culture of Grand Haven. Grand Haven curates a community that supports local businesses and artists. Today, the City of Grand Haven deprived a local business from sharing their craft with the community strictly because the "craft" was alcohol.

Serving alcohol does not mean "adults only." In addition to providing alcohol, Long Road Distillery provides a restaurant and venue space that allows for friends and families to gather. This space IS family friendly and is NOT your local dive bar.

Let's show the City of Grand Haven that they made a terrible decision. Sign this petition so we can BRING LONG ROAD DISTILLERY TO DOWNTOWN GRAND HAVEN!
