The Oak Ridge High School Class of 2019 is the last remaining class that had the experience of being led by our former principal, Mr. Paul Burke. Mr. Burke was an active and engaging principal that consistently sought to create a great high school experience for every student that he could. He took every opportunity to personally connect with as many students as possible across the campus. To this day, Mr. Burke joyously interacts with current and former high school students whenever he has the chance. It is safe to say that he made a lasting impact on the majority of 2019 graduates, in addition to the hundreds of preceding students.
This petition is brought forward by Oak Ridge High School students. Our mission is to gain support for influencing the current Oak Ridge administration to invite Mr. Burke to our 2019 graduation and give him the opportunity to deliver a speech to his former students. Students of the Class of 2019 want to honor Mr. Burke's time as our principal, and form a graduation ceremony that is representative of our high school experience. When we reach an ample number of signatures, we will bring our request directly to the Oak Ridge administration.
