Justice for Fenel

FENEL DONTRE BAINE was sentenced to 91 years for the murder of Michael Cannon. KEENAN BACON actually committed the murder and testified to the fact. Mr. Bacon recieved 20 years for his crime. Michael Car, accompanied by his brother Jeremy Cannon, approached Fenel and Mr. Bacon with the intent to harm them. A two on two fight ensued in which Mr. Bacon pulled out a gun and shot and killed Michael Cannon (the brother he was fighting). Jeremy Cannon-the guy Fenel was fighting in defense of his life-never died or was shot since Fenel never had a gun. Fenel was charged as an accomplice to Mr. Bacon's murder. He was charged with manslaughter, two gun charges, a possession of a firearm by a person prohibited charge, second degree assault, and two misdemeanors. Mr. Bacon confessed to the murder and pled guilty to manslaughter and the adjoining weapons charge. He testified at Fenel's trial six months later that he was in fact the actual shooter and Fenel never coerced, assisted, nor aided him in killing Michael. He testified the murder was never planned and was purely an act of self defense. He also testified that Fenel never knew he had a gun. Despite his testimony Fenel was still convicted on all counts and sentenced to the maximum amount on all counts. (Manslaughter, 25 years; gun charge, 25 years; 2nd gun charge, 25 years; person prohibited charge, 8 years; assault second, 8 years with a total of 91 years.) The state's case revolved around hearsay and circumstantial evidence. There were no guns recovered, no ballistics, no DNA, no hair samples, no camera footage or damaging eyewitness testimony, nothing. Keenan filed an affidavit November 5th 2016, ten years after the fact, reaffirming his confession to guilt, his trial testimony exonerating Fenel, and Fenel's innocence in the case. Despite these efforts Judge Graves stubbornly refuses to let Fenel go (after sentencing Fenel to the maximum on all charges though he was wrongfully convicted and charged as an accomplice and not the perpetrator). He has been overtly biased throughout this whole affair. He routinely denies all of Fenel's appeals, many times without even reading them. He rejects letters that Fenel's family and community writes on his behalf. He is insistent that Fenel stays in prison until he dies. I am appealing to the public as a fellow citizen and as Fenel's mother. I need your help. I am weary and I am fatigued. I ask, who will stand with me in this noble fight. I need your support because hate put my son in prison, but love will break him out. Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere. Thank you...
