Urge U.S. Congress to Pass the "Preventing Animal Cruelty And Torture (PACT) Act"

  • by: Jane Rita
  • recipient: U.S. Senate and U.S. House of Representatives

This important bill amends the federal criminal code to prohibit intentionally engaging in animal crushing in or affecting interstate or foreign commerce or within the special maritime and territorial jurisdiction of the United States. (House Bill H.R 2293 - Sponsor: Rep. Smith, Lamar [R-TX-21] / Senate Bill 1831 - Sponsor: Sen. Toomey, Pat [R-PA] )

Update #27 years ago
This past Thursday, 9-22-16, Senator Pat Toomey (R-PA) tried to get unanimous consent to pass the P.A.C.T. Act. Unfortunately, Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev), because of partisan concerns, blocked this important bipartisan bill. I urge you to Call (202-224-3542) ,Tweet @SenadorReid) , or Email (http://www.reid.senate.gov/contact) Senator Reid to express your outrage over his getting in the way of progress for animals. It is the animals caught between partisan bickering that suffer.

Aug 9, 2016 - Thanks to all who have signed this petition. We are now fewer than 200 signatures away from reaching 1,000. My plan is to deliver the petition January 2017 when a new Congress meets for the first time. The more signatures we can get between now and then the better! So, PLEASE keep sharing it widely. Animal crushing is abhorrent behavior and there should be no tolerance of it anywhere.
