CHANGE PLAZA MIDDLE DRESS CODE!

    Flaws of the dress code

    Vocabulary:
    Amab- Assigned male at birth
    Poc- Person of color
    Bpoc- Black person of color
    Afab- Assigned female at birth

    1. Administration does not enforce dress code equally and mainly point out afab students (They mainly enforce it on plus-size/poc afabs too)

    2. They let amab students get away with almost anything besides shoes or hats and hoodies

    3. When amab students are sagging their pants and exposing their undergarments they are just told to pull them up and most of the time they do not

4.Skirts and shirts and rips shouldn't have a length it should just cover undergarments

5.Saying a skirt needs to be fingertip length is unfair since all students finger lengths very

    6. Dress code states that students may not wear "lewd" or "suggestive" clothing

    7. Saying students can't wear pajama pants is unfair

    8. Even though on the paper all of it says "students" when admin make announcements they point out and only repeatedly say "ladies" or "girls"

    9. Students are told not to wear bandanas but when they do they let white afabs wear them, they take it from white amab, but when a poc (especially amabs) they say it's “gang affiliation”

    Why these things are wrong

Letting afabs (specifically white ones) get away with almost anything is sexist, if you're going to make a dumb school dress code then you HAVE to enforce it equally
Saying that the many people don't have enough money to buy more clothing anyway
Lewd makes sense but suggestive is also dumb since clothes don't equal consent, just because someone is showing a body part doesn't mean they are suggesting someone do something to them
Some students don't have enough money to buy a lot of clothes and a forced to sleep in clothes they go to school with
Saying that when a poc (specifically bpoc) where's a bandana is stereotyping that all bpoc are all gang affiliated

    Witnessed racism/sexism/Etc.(dress code related)

6My brother (6th grade) told me Mr. Linder kicked a black amab out of his class for wearing a redshirt, it was just a redshirt. Mr. Linder said it was “gang affiliation” and sent him down to the office.
In 6th we had a female sub and a black amab was wearing a burgundy bandana, he was asked to take it off because it was “gang affiliation” even though burgundy is a gang color the gang takes place in California therefore would have no meaning here. He asked why it was gang affiliation and got in trouble.
Today May 12th, 2021 I'm wearing a skirt too short for school and the principal didn't say anything, as I said, they mainly target plus size/poc afabs
Mrs. Moore told my sibling they couldn't wear thigh-high socks because they “had a time and a place but school wasn't it”, thigh highs are just long socks.
Teachers let academy kids wear shorts you can barely see but if a white afab tried they would get into trouble not to mention that if a plus-size afab tried then they are forced to change entirely.
