Make Animal Alert Advisories MANDATORY For TV/Radio Stations During Severe Weather!

The Problem: During Severe Hot/Cold Weather, I very rarely hear TV/Radio stations (in my STL metro east area & beyond I'm sure), telling people to 1) Bring Pets Indoors & 2) Check On Neighbors Outdoor Pets/Animals. If they think the animal(s) are being neglected/abused, they should report it to their police or local animal welfare shelter.
If they do not get help, they should help in some way by getting the animal some food, water, shelter or warmth in the winter

The Solution: A 50 state mandatory law, through the Federal, State, & Local Government, as well as the FCC, that states that all TV/Radio stations must issue an "Animal Alert Advisory," during Severe Weather! (severe hot/severe cold). What dictates extreme weather, simple: "would you, a human, like to live/sleep outdoors in bad severe weather?"

*The Animal Alert: This could look just like an Amber Alert or Severe Weather Alert that's usually seen as typed graphic, towards the bottom of the screen on a TV newscast. It doesn't need to be on every single minute, but as many times as possible during the newscast would be great. Also, whomever the Weather announcer is, (*& this would apply solely for radio programs), should also make these 2 simple statements during their weather reports...1) Please bring your pets indoors, if that's not an option, please make sure they have safe shelter, good food, & fresh water. 2) Please check on your neighbors pets/outdoor animals, if you think they are being neglected/abused, please report it to local authorities or help them out personally if you can safely do so.

I feel that this advisory, spoken and displayed, just like Bob Barker's, "Help control the pet population. Have your pets spayed or neutered," said at the end of all of his Price Is Right shows," could really catch on! It could leave an active mental imprint and spread throughout the nation and psyche of people all over, who don't always think about how bad it is to be an outdoor animal leaving outdoors in bad/severe weather!

Update #14 years ago
I just wanted to say mega thanks to everyone who has signed this petition.
I started this a year ago, & it took one year, just to get 100 signatures.
In the past 2 days, it's hit 600 signatures, & I'm still scratching my head, trying to figure out how. Regardless, I'll take this good fortune & hope it keeps on going, and not for my sake, but for all animal's betterment. If this passes in the US, my next mission will be to go worldwide, I'll never give up on the helpless/truly innocent among us!
