Sophia is 7 years old. She loves reading and singing along to her favorite songs from Disney's Frozen
. But Sophia is also very sick. She is one of over 1 million Americans with "uncontrolled" epilepsy.
Sophia was diagnosed when she was just 8 months old. She was soon suffering from up to 20 seizures a day.
Currently available medications can't help her, and the ones she does take have debilitating side effects.
Sophia and her parents have tried every available treatment -- including surgery to remove parts of her brain -- but nothing has helped. The seizures keep coming back.
But there is hope. Cannabidiol, or CBD, is a compound found in medical marijuana that can significantly reduce seizures. But because medical marijuana is illegal in Sophia's home state of Ohio, she does not have access to this life-changing treatment.
Sophia deserves a happily ever after -- let's write it together. Please sign the petition to stand up for Sophia and all of those suffering from illness in states where medical marijuana is illegal.
