Remove Officer Nathan Cook from Grainger County Sheriff’s Department in Rutledge, TN.

On November 25, 2016 I was at the Grainger County Sheriff's Department, in Grainger County Tennessee, to pick my children up from their visitation period with their father. I was speaking to their father regarding his new wife disciplining my children with a metal clothes hanger. Approximately 6 or more Grainger County Sheriff's Deputy's came from the Sheriff's Office to where I, my former husband, and his new wife were. I stepped away from my former husband's and spoke the the officers and my mother who had come with me. I was not placed under arrest. I was speaking to an officer other than Deputy Nathan Cook, when Deputy Cook drove up and got out of his car. At that point Deputy Cook came up to where I was standing and I was in mid sentence speaking to the other officers when Deputy Cook told me "Hang On". Deputy Cook did not even inquire of the officers present what had, or was taking place, or what I had done. The body came video of Deputy Cook released to WATE news in Knoxville, Tn shows his conduct towards me. I was attempting to care for my children and again in mid sentence interrupted by words to the effect of "or do whatever the hell you want". My children were crying and in total fear as Deputy Cook as he was abraiding me for continuing to talk after he had told me to be quiet. I objected to his conduct in the presence of my children. He should not act such a way in front of children. He told me to go sit on his cruiser. I turned to do as he said, my back turned to him, and I began to walk to his vehicle and was grabbed by Officer Cook, my arms twisted tightly behind my back to handcuff just for talking, even though I was following his order to go to cruiser. Deputy Cook became so enraged toward me that he jammed his handcuffs while arresting me for TALKING. As I continued to tell him he was hurting me and that I hadn't done anything he slammed me onto the hood of his vehicle and my head bounced off the hood. Deputy Cook then forced and kicked me into the back of his K-9 cruiser where a K-9 dog was in a cage growling and barking at me. Their were at least 3 more cruisers there but I was placed in the one with the dog and no room for me. I am 5'8 and with the dog cage taking up 3/4 of the back seat, that left me little room. I remained terrified as I sat in a tight space where my elbows where touching on each side of the door and the cage. After I was arrested for talking Deputy Cook for the first time asks the other Officers "what have you got on them" "what's going on" and believing that I may complain about his job he states to the other officers "document the heck out of it" and "she threatened to have me fired". I never threatened his job! As he was slamming me in the cruiser I stated my husbands name and that he was from Rutledge and began to say we are good people but was interrupted by him kicking me into cruiser. Deputy Cook charged me with disorderly conduct and resisting arrest. I was experiencing my menstrual cycle, and as a cause of Deputy Cook's conduct, I was held in jail. I made him and the assisting intake woman aware of me needing feminine products but didn't receive them for several hours nor did I receive toilet paper or even a blanket until the night shift lady came in and did my booking. I always requested from inside the cell that I wanted pictures taken of my all the marks all over me that later turned into bruises, I was denied that and told to take it up in court. She was a very nice lady and apologized for me not getting anything and said that is not normally the way things are done. She, whoever she was, is the only person in there that treated me like a human being.

This Deputy needs put out of Office for his conduct! He used Excessive force against me and didn't even know why I was there. He falsely arrested me, assaulted me and his batteries. He does not need to be in a authoritative position. I want this petition to hopefully bring to light to the Sheriff of the County that this Deputy Cook used outrageous anger towards me and hurt me and my children and have affected our life indefinitely in a negative way.
