Time to prevent the stigma and discrimination in mental illness

Society often views people with mental health should be responsible for their disorders. They get blamed for having major depression and symptoms of illness. The public also views mental illness as dangerous which results in the most prejudicial and discriminating of attitude towards them. Some people do not realize that mental illness is a biological disorder until they educated themselves about it. Those individuals who learned about mental illness tend to be more understandable, patients, calm, and more interacting with mental illness people (Patrick et al., 2020). So, I want society to treat mental illness as a normal person and not to discriminate or blame them for their symptoms. I am expecting to see each and everyone in this world to treat each other equally despite their mental health issues. Also, advocating for those who have mental illness and other health issues as well as changing support for the NASW Social Work Code of Ethics Values. For instance, the new policy would be no more having a stigma and discrimination towards individuals with mental illness or any other health issues. No more blaming them for having symptoms of depression or saying that they are dangerous.
