24 hours after a video depicting Alton Sterling being shot dead by two police officers in Louisiana surfaced, another video was uploaded which showed the final moments of 32 year old Philando Castile's life, as he was fatally shot by a Minnesota police officer.
The full 10 minute video can be found here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sZ7DhbRUvNI
Castile had been pulled over because of the an issue with the vehicles tail light. His girlfriend, Lavish - also known as Diamond - Reynolds and their four-year-old girl were inside the vehicle when the fatal shooting took place. Reynolds repeatedly states that Castile had been asked to show his driving licence.
The officer shot him four times while still in the vehicle and as he was seat belted in. The video records Reynolds being handcuffed - though she had done nothing illegal - and both her their child being put in the back of a police car following the incident.
The video clearly shows that Castile was not a threat to the officer who shot him.
Philando Castile was a cafeteria worker in a local school and was well liked by students and parents alike. He was well loved by his friends and family, and his mother described him as a man who “lived and died by the law”. Castile was shot to death for no good or legal reason, in front of his girlfriend and infant child. This is a clear example of racism and police brutality - and it is an insult to the concept of Justice.
SIGN if you think that the police officers involved should be charged and arrested for the heinous and cold blooded murder of Philando Castile; nor should they receive their salary while under investigation or administrative leave.
