Shame on You, Senators Collins and Manchin! Your Vote for Kavanaugh Was a Vote to Silence Survivors!

  • by: Care2 Team

Brett Kavanaugh is many things: a sexual predator, a liar about facts both big and small, partisan and biased, and a misogynistic man with an unstable temperament and potentially a drinking problem. But despite all this, the Republican-led Senate just voted to confirm him to become the ninth justice on the Supreme Court of the United States of America. For life.

We knew in advance that most Republican senators would vote to confirm Kavanaugh, despite the millions of people who've come forward to share how a vote for Brett is a vote to silence survivors. But we held out hope that a few undecided senators could "swing" the vote and keep this grown-up Brock Turner of a man off the Court.

That hope was broken when Senators Susan Collins (R-Maine) and Joe Manchin (D-West Virginia) decided to vote for Kavanaugh anyway. We say to these senators: SHAME ON YOU!

They voted "yes" despite the countless survivors who've come forward to share their own stories of sexual assault, humiliation, and gaslighting. They voted "yes" in defiance of the people they are supposed to represent.

Despite the 40+ classmates of Kavanaugh who desperately tried contacting the FBI to share evidence of his wrongdoings.

Despite Kavanaugh's multiple counts of lying under oath.

Luckily for the voters, it's almost Midterm Elections Time. While these senators didn't listen to us when it counted, they're going to hear us loud and clear now. Women and survivors all over this country are going to march to the polls on Tuesday, November 6th. And we will remember all those who cast a "yes" vote for Brett Kavanaugh.

Sign this petition to send a clear message to Senators Susan Collins and Joe Manchin -- along with the other 48 Republicans Senators who cast disgraceful "Yes" votes today: Shame on you! Shame on you! Shame on you!
