Support Everyone Deserves a Second Chance

Everyone deserves a Second Chance including those who commit a criminal offense.

The Second Chance Reauthorization Act of 2017 legislation amends the Second Chance Act of 2007 that allocates funding for government and non-profit organizations in order to facilitate successful re-entry into communities for juvenile and adult offenders. This policy would:

- Provide much needed access to transitional services including employment, education, housing, health care, mental health and substance abuse treatment.
- Reduce the following: barriers to services, recidivism rates and economic burden on taxpayers.
- Improve public safety.

The proposed act supports the NASW code of ethics principles (2008) by challenging social injustice including racial and socioeconomic inequalities for diverse populations that may be oppressed or marginalized.
