STOP Killing Dogs and Cats for FUR

  • by: F.L.A.A.K
  • recipient: The Honourable Ed Fast, Minister of International Trade, Foreign Affairs and International Trade Canada.

Companion animals just like yours are being harvested in fur farms in China and other Eastern Countries.  Dogs and cats are kept in filthy, freezing cages without food or water, then stunned and many are skinned alive to make fur trimmed products.
Please sign our petition to demand that the Honorable Ed Fast, Minister of trade insist these countries engage in truthful and transparent labeling of their export products.  We have the right to know so as consumers we can make the right choices.

If we can label it, we can stop it !!!

We the undersigned,

Currently under Canadian law, manufacturers of jackets, hats, mitts and other fur-trimmed  items are not required to label their products as to their content, whatsoever. These items are usually unidentified animal fur that has been DNA tested by the U.S. Humane Society as containing dog and cat fur. Asian countries, particularly China, make no secret of raising companion animals in freezing filthy conditions, only to be harvested for their fur at a rate of over 5400 animals a day. Many of these animals will be skinned alive after carelessly being stunned. Please demand action from the Honourable Minister to amend this section of The Export and Import Permits Act [EIPA, 1947] to provide accuracy for consumer purchasing. Make truthful and transparent labelling of all fur-trimmed garments mandatory!

Thank you, Minister Fast, for your time and attention to this very important issue.
