Stopping the Approval and Production of Genetically Modified Foods

Recently an article about genetically modified food has come to the public's attention. Genetically modified animals or crops are nutritionally said to be the same as nonengineered crops, but not everyone wants to consume these engineered foods. This is troubling on many levels because it goes against many people's personal, moral, and religious beliefs.

This petition is asking the Food and Drug Administration to reject genetically modified animals and to require the labeling of all genetically modified foods.

This is troubling on many levels because it goes against many people's personal, moral, and religious beliefs.

Even with the current research done, there is no way to ensure that these modified species will  not get into the wilderness and harm other species. When it comes to genetically modified animals, there is no guarantee that these species won't find their way into the wild and damage the already fragile ecosystems. With genetically modified crops, although there are already some in the market, not everyone approves of consuming these crops. The possibility of the seeds or pollen from these crops getting into the wild and infecting and possibly damaging the natural environment are too great to ignore.

We ask as petition signers that you reject the approval of the recent genetically modified salmon and other potential genetically modified animals and crops. We also ask that you mandate the labeling of all foods that have been genetically modified. These genetically modified foods can have unpredictable consequences on our health and our environment. Thank you for taking the time to read this petition. We hope that you strongly consider our opinions and respect the choices we want to make for our planet.
