STOP the Rock Quarry in Butts County!

Mr. Josh Sprayberry/Tussahaw Reserves LLC has purchased 400+ within the Keys Ferry Rd/Fincherville Road/Jack Maddox Bridge Road area with the proposed intention of starting a Rock Quarry. We must STOP the Rock Quarry from coming to our area! This quarry would have a tremendous impact within our area and surrounding areas:
    1) Affecting our environment
    2) Water tables causing wells to dry up
    3) Water tributaries (property is in the Tussahaw Watershed area)
    4) Tremendous noise of blasting *1-2 x's monthly
    5) Dust factors from site area and trucks
    6) Traffic of large trucks *60 trucks daily off of Keys Ferry Road's entrance
    7) Does not go along with the future land use map
    8) Approximately 40 homes are within 4,000 feet of the proposed quarry
    9) The pit will be approximately 75 acres (but look how the Stockbridge quarry has expanded)
    10) Property values would tremendously be impacted
    11) Property owners with outlying health issues could experience effects to their health due to dust and the noise of the explosions (i.e. asthmatic breathing issues, COPD, PTSD)
    12) Causing affects to the infrastructure of the road systems
These impacts are a few of what this Rock Quarry would bring to our lovely communities of Butts County and surrounding Henry and Newton Counties.
We love our community, our families, our property and our neighbors! We enjoy our "country living and playing". We do not want an outfit out of Greensboro to bring the aforementioned problems to our back yards. We must fight to keep this company's proposal from going forward!
Listed below is what Mr. Sprayberry and Tussahaw Reserve LLC must do to get this past:
Step 1: The Developer has to apply for a rezoning of the land from the current classification (Agricultural/Residential to Manufacturing 3 (Heavy Industrial)
Step 2: The Developer must go before the Planning and Zoning Commission, hold public hearing, then the Planning Commission votes to recommend or deny the application. If they recommend approval, they must also vote on a Special Use as well, because a quarry is a special use, even within the manufacturing designation.
Step 3: The Developer must go before the Board of Commissioners, hold public hearing, then the Commission can vote either to grant the rezoning, grant the rezoning with conditions or deny the rezoning.
Let's sign this petition and make our words heard!!!!!!!!! Let's show our commissioners that we DO NOT WANT THIS ROCK QUARRY IN OUR COMMUNITIES!! STOP the ROCK QUARRY!
    Thank you very much!!!
