Recently, Risa Weinstock, Executive Director & General Counsel of The Animal 'Care' Centers of NYC ("ACC") restored the word "humanely" to the blogs of animals murdered by the ACC on the ACC website after it was intentionally removed and we made a point of directing attention to this fact.
So how come Risa Weinstock wouldn't define how animals are murdered by the ACC when asked twice by a NYC taxpayer at a public meeting in June 2014, why does she avoid clarifying it now and why was the word "humanely" removed in the first place??
Lying for convenience or by omission seems to be the special talent of Risa Weinstock. Nonetheless, this doesn't absolve Risa Weinstock of authorizing the execution of healthy, adoptable dogs for behavorial reasons in violation of the ACC's tax-exempt charitable status, especially when the ACC does not employ licensed behaviorists.
Who knew that the "bad behavior" of abandoned, terrified animals confined to shelter prisons in "Care Centers" is considered an "irredeemable illness or injury" as defined under U.S. animal welfare laws?? Who knew that the Executive Director & General Counsel of the ACC would laud a $10,000 grant from an animal charity named "Maddie's Fund" and not think to use at least a portion of that grant to hire licensed behaviorists to assess animals before sentencing them to death?? The elimination and then restoration of the word 'humanely" from the ACC website validates the accusation set forth herein THAT RISA WEINSTOCK IS UNTRUSTWORTHY.
Recently, the ACC decided to adopt a policy of sedating dogs on intake to deal with fear. But it doesn't think it's necessary to sedate them before murdering them?
THE ANIMAL ADVOCATES AND TAXPAYERS OF NYC DEMAND ANSWERS TO THESE QUESTIONS. BECAUSE LIES AND DECEPTIONS ARE THE HALLMARK OF THE ACC, and based upon what they know:
WE, THE SIGNATORIES TO THIS PETITION DEMAND TO HAVE A VALID ANSWER TO THE TO-DATE UNANSWERED QUESTION AND SPECIFICS ABOUT WHAT METHOD OF EUTHANASIA THE ACC USES AND A MORATORIUM ON KILLING AT THE ACC UNTIL SUCH TIME AS 'EUTHANASIA' IS CLARIFIED AND DEFINED BY THE LAWYER THAT'S IN CHARGE OF OPERATING THE ACC, AND WE DEMAND THIS ANSWER IN WRITING, CORROBORATED BY THE NYC DEPT. OF HEALTH AND N0TARIZED SO THAT RISA WEINTOCK CANNOT AMEND THIS YET AGAIN.
WE DEMAND THAT RISA WEINSTOCK BE FIRED FOR PROMISING NO-KILL IN 2014 AND NOT DELIVERING ON IT IN 2015 AND FOR HER BETRAYALS OF THE PUBLIC TRUST; THAT NYC GOVERNMENT DECLARE ITS ANIMAL SHELTERS NO-KILL IMMEDIATELY AND THAT IT GET THE NYC DEPT. OF HEALTH OUT OF THE SHELTER BUSINESS. AND WE DEMAND AN ACCOUNTING OF FUNDRAISING AT THE ACC. THIS SHOULD BE A MATTER OF PUBLIC RECORD FOR PUBLICLY-FUNDED ANIMAL SHELTERS.
