Arkansas – Ensure Stricter Charges & Penalties for All Intentional Animal Abuse, Neglect and Cruelty

There is never any excuse or justification for intentionally harming an animal but it happens on a daily basis.  Efforts continue to put an end to such cruelty but often times the penalties just do not fit the crime to make a lasting impression. Recently though, some penalties have escalated from minor misdemeanors to a felony for some forms of animal abuse, cruelty, neglect and abandonment. Continually, there are exemptions for certain issues to charges and penalties as demonstrated in Arkansas.  Read more on their animal cruelty welfare and laws at http://www.straypetadvocacy.org/html/cruelty_laws.html & http://www.azhumane.org/get-involved/be-an-advocate/animal-welfare-legislation/

There is never justification for harming an animal and most often if humans are raised as youngsters to love, care for and respect animals, there would be lesser crimes against these defenseless creatures.  They are not objects but living, loving beings with feelings.  The disrespect of animals comes in all forms, from minor issues involving neglect to serious injuries, dog fighting and death. Whatever the extent, any offense against a living, breathing defenseless animal warrants no less than a felony offense.

The effort in this petition is to encourage Arkansas State Legislators to implement stricter animal cruelty penalties that would ensure any and all offenses against an animal is classified as a felony.  Along with the felony offense and appropriate consequences, the offender would be listed as a registered animal abuser that would prevent future mistreatment, ownership and encounters with any animals for a lifetime, guaranteed.  Strict measurements need to be taken and fully enforced in order to put an end to such animal cruelty.  Please take a stand with me by signing and sharing this petition, adding your own thoughts, comments and support regarding the protection of animals.
