The American Lung Association estimates that about 1 in 4 people in the United States – more than 119 million residents – live with air pollution that can hurt their health and shorten their lives, costing the nation $820 billion in extra health bills a year. But it's not all bad news. According to one study, every dollar spent on air pollution control methods reaps $30 worth of benefits! It's a win-win for everyone except the greedy companies that made huge profits off of destroying American lungs. It's critical for both public health and the environment that the EPA holds firm and passes new rules to limit power plant pollution in America.
