Stop future animal abuse by Coeymans Police Department’

On 3/12/18 a 15 minute video was captured by onlookers at Faith Plaza, 2480 Rt. 9W in Ravena, N.Y. of police officers "neutralizing" or brutally atracking a raccoon with their vehicle as they had received calls about it being rabid. They decided that it was much too rural of an area to discharge and weapon, and thought a better solution would be to chase the terrified animal down in their police cruiser and repeatedly strike it until it succumbed to the injuries cause by the automobile. I am beyond disgusted with this as any resident in the area should be as well. I am rather informed on the rabies virus due to having to recive the shots myself about two months ago. To even attempt to pass this off as anything other than animal abuse is absurd being that anyone from the cdc will tell you the last thing you want to do to a rabid animal is disburse it's blood, saliva, brain matter, or spinal fluid since that's exactly how the virus is spread. If anything they put the immediate public at more risk by running it over and cause the animal injury. I am completely sickened with the thoughtless acts of these police officers as their actions are far from "protecting" or "serving". Please sign this petition and pass it along to demand the officers be held accountable for this obvious act of animal abuse and complete disregard for public safety.
