The Clock Is Running Out: Act on Climate to Save the Penguins!

Less than twenty years ago, the beloved documentary March of the Penguins was released, and millions of people around the world fell in love with the emperor penguins of Antarctica. But new research shows that these amazing creatures are at risk due to loss of Antarctic sea ice caused by climate change -- and if world leaders don't act quickly, the entire species could be lost forever. As the 27th United Nations Climate Change Conference gets underway, we must urge world leaders to work together to solve the climate crisis and save emperor penguins before it is too late!

Sign now to demand that representatives at COP27 commit to comprehensive climate action to protect the beloved emperor penguin!

Every year, a Conference of Parties takes place in a different city, all with the same goal: to address climate catastrophe. But COP meetings have famously failed to create binding international agreements, which are desperately needed to curb the most devastating impacts of climate change. And species like the emperor penguin can't wait any longer for action.

The US Fish and Wildlife Service recently announced that it has added emperor penguins to the endangered species list, given how dire the situation is for the species. In fact, the specific colony that was featured in March of the Penguins has declined by nearly 50% since the 1970s. Other colonies have suffered even worse fates. In 2016, 10,000 chicks died in Halley Bay because the sea ice broke up too early in the season. The chicks tragically drowned, as they were not old enough to swim. The colony still hasn't recovered.

Climate change isn't just an existential threat for humans -- it also puts entire species, like the emperor penguin, at risk. World leaders gathering for COP27 in Egypt must prioritize saving the emperor penguin before it is too late! Sign the petition now if you agree!
