Mandalay Bay Owner Sues Las Vegas Shooting Victims — But This Company Could Help

On October 1, 2017, gunman Stephen Paddock opened fire on the crowd at the Route 91 Harvest music festival from his 32nd-floor hotel room at Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino in Las Vegas. The tragedy left 59 people dead and nearly 1,000 people injured.

And now, MGM Resorts International, the company that owns Mandalay Bay, is suing many of those victims.

MGM filed a lawsuit against 800 concertgoers from California and 200 from Nevada in hopes of having a federal court declare the company free of liability for the massacre. Many of the defendants named had either previously brought lawsuits that have since been dismissed or have threatened to bring lawsuits.

These victims just survived the worst mass shooting in U.S. history, with many having lost loved ones — and now MGM is re-victimizing them once again.

MGM had to have known that this decision would cause public outrage, but clearly they didn't think they'd suffer real repercussions for such callousness. That's why we're calling on another company to stand up to MGM in defense of victims.

Cirque du Soleil has performances at many MGM-owned resorts in Las Vegas, including MGM Grand, the Bellagio, and Mandalay Bay itself, which currently features Michael Jackson ONE. By pulling its shows from MGM-owned resorts in Las Vegas, Cirque du Soleil can stand in solidarity for mass shooting victims and show MGM that suing shooting victims is intolerable.

Please sign this petition and demand that Cirque du Soleil take a stand for victims.

Update #15 years ago
They are trying any tactic they can to get out of taking any responsibility for this horrible shooting, including bribing victims by donating to charities on their behalf. What a terrible way to hide from responsibility.
