Celestial Seasonings tea company brutally poisoned a vibrant prairie dog colony in the City of Boulder in 1999 and replaced their one and only home with concrete as they constructed a company store. Hundreds of prairie dogs fell victim to the cruel and heinous poisoning which caused immense suffering for their families and the community of wildlife who depended on them.
Advocates organized a nation wide boycott against Celestial products and thousands of concerned citizens forced Celestial Seasoning to the table and they made a public promise to their customers and the local community to protect the surrounding 15 acre property in perpetuity and memorialize it as a prairie preserve for the surviving traumatized prairie dogs. They gave their word that the prairie dogs would always have a safe place to call home.
Now, Hain Celestial Group is breaking their promise and is attempting to sell this habitat for millions of dollars which will destroy this wildlife community for luxury condominiums! Hain Celestial knew that this would cause problems for local wildlife advocates, so before this was made public, they formulated a strategy where they REFUSE to talk to any of the local residents, concerned customers and wildlife advocates. Hain Celestial values profit over life, and has grown large enough to not care who they kill for the all mighty dollar.
Currently, this development proposal is up before the City of Boulder and their City Council members. We need you to help us get the world out to the world that Hain Celestial Group is destroying rapidly dwindling prairie habitat for profit and that they must be boycotted.
If we all work together to get the word out, we can stop this atrocity! Hain Celestial Group puts on a false face and pretends to care about wildlife, but is craftily attempting to ignore the voice of the people they promised protection to for profit. Hain Celestial Group needs to honor their promise and protect this prairie community!
