Overturn the conviction of human rights protester Nabeel Rajab in Bahrain

The president of the Bahrain Centre for Human Rights, Nabeel Rajab, has been sentenced to 3 years in jail for leading peaceful protests against the Bahraini government's abuses of human rights.

This is clearly a government that outwardly flaunts its abhorence for human rights and rules with an iron fist against those who challenge or even its authority.

Last week, several members of the US Congress wrote to the Bahraini King Hamad al-Khalifa expressing concern over Mr Rajab's case and urging the release of "Bahrainis being held for crimes related to freedom of expression".

Please sign this petition to mount further international pressure on the Bahraini government and show that the international community will not look on in silence.

To the Government of Bahrain,

We the undersigned write in protest against the recent conviction of Nabeel Rajab. His prison sentence does not reflect the severity of the crime for which he has been convicted. Furthermore, he has been convicted for speaking out against the Bahraini Government's abuse of human rights.

We request that Mr Rajab be given the freedom to speak out against the governemment should he wish to do so and not face oppression.
