URGENT! Southshore Hills Property Owners Petition
Southshore Hills Property Owners Association (POA)
Concerned Neighbors Petition – February 25, 2019

Concerns:

 - Lack of transparency between Tandem Property Management (TPM) & POA Owners:

  • POA Board Meetings at inconvenient times making it difficult for many POA Owners to provide input
  • No POA Owners Meetings and Tandem not willing to consider them
  • Significant changes currently at stake:

- POA Board voting on significant landscape project with limited POA Owners involvement

- Little to no financial information made available

- POA Board voting on POA Owners property rights with limited POA Owners involvement

- Major changes to the rules and associated penalties related to renting your home or even rooms in your home

  • These decisions may be good ones, but we question why information is hard to come by
  • There may be other projects or issues we are not aware of and will not be aware if we don't ask for information
  • Interesting that Southshore Hills West, (at the top of the Hillsbury) pays only $180 annual dues
  • We are not aware of any particular problems beyond a lack of transparency and communications. It is too hard to get basic information from TPM which raises concerns.
  • TPM blames owner apathy as the reason for not sending information or having annual voting for new Board Members.
  • Note that only budgets numbers are shared annually, not actuals expenditures.

Goal

  • Next POA Board Meeting is Thursday February 28 where a vote regarding ours rights to rent our properties can take place
  • This petition asks the Board NOT to hold this vote until there is more information available to POA Owners
  • To ask that NO decisions be made at the POA Board level or TPM until an POA Owners Meeting can take place to learn about major expenditures and rationale I.e. (rumored retaining wall project- $200k+)

Decision Makers

  • POA Board
  • Tandem Property Management (TPM)
  • POA Owners (no decision power other than voting on board which has be several years since last vote)

Action

  • Please respond by email or fax with comments and by signing petition by Wednesdayevening so we can carry the petition to Thursday morning meeting. Also, withadditional comments to AmigoMurf@gmail.com or fax to 805-852-2692.
  • Join us at Tandem at 10AM on Thursday morning. Meeting located at 2500 Townsgate Road Suite K. Westlake Village
  • The format of the meeting is that any Owner can speak for up to 3 minutes and then owners must leave where board is able to make decisions.
  • Please share this with your neighbors and encourage involvement.

It would be helpful to have the contact info below to enhance the time and energy to communicate. Nothing will be shared beyond this association.

Thank you.

Update #15 years ago
Update: While I couldn't make it, there were 20 owners who went to the board meeting. Those in attendance said it was a very lively discussion. Tandem claims that they've posted signs every year for meetings, but the signs were stolen before any of the owners had a chance to see them. I haven't seen a sign in the 10 yrs. I've lived here. They also maintain that they've been sending out ballots every year, but getting a zero % return from homeowners. Really? We will get our meeting. Stay tuned.
