Fight for better campus security at Alamo Elementary School

Hello everyone,

My name is Young Lin and I have a kindergartener at Alamo Elementary School. I have been talking to other parents, teachers, YMCA staff, and Mr. Hitomi about campus security after noticing the poor quality of our school fence and seeing random strangers walking on campus during school hours, and realized that we all want the same thing--better campus security for our kids.  I would like to push SRVUSD to provide financial support to fence in our school for 2 very important reasons:
1. To protect our children from running out onto busy streets (Livorna Road)
2. To limit public access (unwanted strangers and vehicles) to school especially during school hours.

We are the minority in terms of elementary schools in SRVUSD that have received perimeter fencing.  Currently, SRVUSD has indicated that we may have to wait at least a few years to receive funding.  This is not a guarantee.  We must do what we can to push the district to allocate funds.  Safety of our children and school staff is paramount and we must do what we can.

Please sign my petition so we can make safety a priority on our campus.

Please feel free to reach me by email at yslin79@gmail.com with any questions or concerns.

Update #35 years ago
Hi all, during a meeting with SRVUSD's Gary Black, we were told that the district will be obtaining bids this spring for fencing the front entrance to our school. Essentially, all traffic will be funneled through the office. The kindergarten and sports field fence will be updated at a later date. I'll continue to keep you posted!

HI all, I attended the town hall meeting with County Supervisor Candace Andersen and received valuable advice on next steps that we can take to achieve our goal. If you are interested in receiving more detailed updates or want to be an active participant (possibly attend meetings with me, or send letters to the district/representatives), please send me an email (yslin79@gmail.com). I need as much help as I can get. Even if you do not have kids at Alamo School, your support and voice matters.

Thank you all for signing this petition. I will be attending the Alamo Town Hall Meeting on 1/19 at 9am at Alamo Elementary School where Supervisor Andersen will be discussing several topics including public safety. I hope to gather support from our community and Supervisor Andersen who was instrumental in getting a traffic light placed at the corner of Livorna and Wilson Rd. If you plan on attending please send your RSVP to SupervisorAndersen@bos.cccounty.us. Please join me!
