Demand restricted or permit parking for Rhodes Avenue area, Bishops Stortford, Herts

Rhodes Avenue is the closest free parking to Bishops Stortford town centre and train station. As such commuters and visitors are using the road regularly for parking. Due to the numbers of people using the town, station and even airport some are parking in inconsiderate and dangerous ways in the road, blocking people's drives, parking on corners and the paths. People are regularly leaving cars for days or weeks at a time whilst they travel from Stansted Airport. Some residents are having trouble, or finding it impossible, to get in and out of driveways. It is dangerous for young children crossing the road. The road is regularly gridlocked with cars trying to go in both directions when cars are parked nose to tail on both sides of the road. Dust carts, drain cleaning lorries and delivery vehicles have complained they cannot carry out their work effectively due to the parking. If emergency vehicles needed to enter the street there is a chance they could have difficulties accessing necessary addresses. Sign this petition and demand the council does something to ease the congestion in this road. Residents parking permits should be considered or restricted parking hours should be introduced to ease the situation. this problem also extends into Shangani Road, Mazoe Road and Zambezi road.

Thankyou to everyone who has taken the time to sign the petition. Can I urge you to please ask any friends and family who have not signed to do so if they wish.

The good news is that our MP Mark Prisk has taken an interest in the case and has asked to be copied in to any replies from the council. This should ensure that we do at least get a reply and not ignored, which has been the case previously.

Last week I had a meeting with four other residents to try and plan a way forward for this campaign. We have written to the relevant councillors and asked for a meeting to which all residents should be invited so out concerns can be discussed. Currently awaiting a reply.

Hi and thank you all for the support so far. This week I wrote to the council who are meeting tomorrow to discuss putting yellow lines on the junctions of Rhodes Avenue. Although this will make the corners safer it does not address the problem. I have also sent them the link to the petition.
I am meeting next week with some other residents to decide on future action. Please keep friends and family signing the petition. Thankyou.

Thankyou all for your support so far. Please share this with your friends and family. If we can get to 1355 signatures then the council have to discuss the problem at a full council meeting. This may help us overcome the problem of unhelpful councillers who don't even have the decency to respond to emails.
