Demand the Removal of the Confederate Statue from the Gaston County Courthouse

We have a confederate monument in Gaston County that towers 33 feet in the air on the grounds of our county Courthouse.

A Courthouse should be a place that should represent all citizens and most importantly where all citizens can find true, unbiased justice.  However, statistics tell us that people of color do not always receive that unbiased justice.

It is fact that the confederate states fought to continue and expand slavery. It is a fact that these statures were very thoughtfully placed at significant places, such as courthouses, during the civil rights movement to send a message to people of color that they would not receive fair justice.

We are requesting this statue be relocated to our county museum or a confederate cemetery.
