Hold Judge Accountable for returning Dogs to known animal abuser

On January of 2018, a Rhode Island man named Eugene McQuade was charged with several counts of animal cruelty. This was not the first time, as he had been previously charged with animal abuse/neglect in 2013 and again in 2014.

Somehow, the law allowed him to own 11 dogs that were discovered to be living in frigid conditions this past January. The dogs were found to be abandoned outside without food or water. One was found in a truck, where the dog had been left unattended overnight with the windows rolled up. The dogs were rescued from this hell, only for three of them to be dragged back just a few months later.

Judge Sarah Taft-Carter dropped 24 of the 25 charges against McQuade and ordered the return of three of the dogs to his care. McQuade is pictured aggressively and coldly dragging the dogs away from the shelter, which had been their sanctuary since their poor living conditions were discovered. It is heartbreaking to see helpless animals lose their chance at a decent life.

If this monster acts so violently in front of the media, making threats to shelter staff and reporters, as he did on Saturday, it is alarming to imagine how he behaves when no one is watching. He and the judge who has allowed him to continue his pattern of animal abuse are sad excuses for human beings, and there is no justifcation for how this has been resolved.
