"Long-eared bats? I hope the white nose syndrome wipes all of them out. Then we won't have to worry about it."
You have to see it for yourself: With no shame or hesitation, a sitting Congressman wishes extinction on a species already fighting for its survival.
Rep. Ralph Norman clearly has no pity for northern long-eared bats affected by a deadly white-nose syndrome. And if he has no pity for one species of bat, he probably has none for other threatened or endangered species as well.
Such a cold-hearted attitude is unacceptable in any member of U.S. Congress - or any governmental body, for that matter. In a time of unusual climate change, in a time when thousands of species face extinction due to human activity, we should be showing compassion for other creatures, not arrogant indifference.
Shame on Representative Norman!
