Prevention of the Hong Kong Lantau Vision

The Hong Kong Legislative Council, we call on you to take action for Hong Kong, for the citizens, for the environment, and for the future, by refusing to let the Lantau Tomorrow Vision (LTV) to pass.

The Hong Kong government plans to reclaim 1,700 hectares of land for residential purposes (400,000 housing units) on the East of Lantau Island to solve the land and housing crisis called Lantau Tomorrow Vision. However, the plan fails to enclose the financial drain, environmental damage, and failure to accomplish the intended goal.

We, the undersigned, condemn the motion for the LTV's destructive nature on the environment during and after its development. We understand the impacts of the LTV would have on nearby marine life, such as the Chinese White Dolphin, and threatened biodiversity and endangered ecosystems. We realize that the LTV would squander at least 60% of Hong Kong's fiscal reserves, which is not appropriate for the current technical recession. We recognize that the duration of the construction of the LTV is an inefficient attempt to solve the housing crisis when there are better alternatives available such as the "Land Resumption Ordinance".

What we need is not land, what we need is a sustainable future that will last for generations to come. We, the people, demand that the LTV not be passed and realized for sake of Hong Kong, and future generations.
