Stop the Use of Plastic Bags

Plastic Bags are only used for about 10 minutes and then tossed. They are difficult to recycle and it is not economically efficient to do so. Plastic bags also cost businesses lots of money to offer them free to consumers. Plastic bags never biodegrade and even when it breaks into smaller peices it only enters our food chain. Plastic Bags often fly away or make their way into our oceans. This kind of environmental and health damage is not worth the 10 minute convenience of a plastic bag. Furthermore, the daily use of plastic bags only perpetuates our reliance on oil. Please, stop using and/or offering plastic bags. Doing so could make a tremendous difference in our environment and economy both locally and globally.

We the undersigned, believe the use of plastic bags in everyday life has become a detriment to our society. Although convenient, these plastic bags do far more damage than good. The plastic never biodegrades but merely breaks down into small pieces that find their way into our wildlife and oceans. We are concerned about the future implications of these doings. Plastic bags also cost each business money to offer consumers, so by not offering them it will help them economy as well. Furthermore, it is very costly to recycle plastic bags, as they must be sorted by hand, and only a small percent end up being recycled. Please consider ending the use and/or offering of plastic bags to customers and let them know it is a decision to help our local environment, wildlife, and economy. Thank you for taking the time to read this letter.
