Claremont & Catawba Residents!! My little girl, Briana Faye, who is the bravest little 8 yr old I know, has spoken out at now 2 City Council Meetings begging for a splash pad for our local park! At the last meeting, the Mayor "kindly" joked & make the remark "Well, it's good your mom can take you to Conover!" WHAT?! No, it's not! We have a beautiful park that has lost its luster! They have decided to tear down the tennis courts & replace them with a basketball court! Seriously?! I know my teenagers would love playing basketball in scorching heat on a summer day! We, as loyal Claremont Residents, pay some of the highest city taxes around, not to mention all of the industry in this town, I shouldn't have to drive my daughter to Conover, Maiden, Hickory, or Newton to enjoy their splash pad, when our "cheap" city can totally afford one for our tiniest citizens! But I guess they do not matter? Once a pad is added, the covered picnic area could be rented out for parties, family events, etc, the City could actually make some money. What Claremont mama wouldn't love to bring her lounge chair out in the sun, sit back, & let her kids have fun splashing around to cool off? This mama would!
