The Alliance for Navajo Broadband has serious concerns about the proposed Telecomm Siting Regulations before the Resources and Development Committee of the 25th Navajo Nation Council. We feel they will actually prevent crucial cell services and broadband infrastructure expansion on the Navajo Nation.
The objective of the Broadband deployment is to bridge the digital gap. Accessibility, sustainability and affordability should be the focus.
The Navajo Land Department wants to take control of all telecomm leases and collect all payments for Central Government. They also want to inappropriately increase fees which will have a negative impact on consumers. Then they want to take away local revenues and remove local Chapter control. These are all defeating the main objective. Let our Navajo Leadership know. Do not pass these regulations.
