Allow Teresa to Adopt Ceres Immediately!

Teresa has been caring for a rescue cat named Ceres for over three months. Ceres is a fearful former stray who has experienced a lot of trauma in her life, but is thriving and opening up more and more at home with Teresa and creating a loving, trusting relationship with her.

Ceres has an old dislocated elbow injury to her front right leg. Based on x-ray alone, the rescue vet would like to amputate the leg. But upon observation in the home, Ceres uses the leg to do normal every day activities like any other cat, such as walking, running, leaping, playing, jumping, pouncing, kneading, and doing anything else a normal cat can do. This information was presented to the rescue vet but was discarded as not important.

Teresa sought a second opinion and was told amputation is not something that needs to be rushed into and she could be treated with pain management medication. While on medication, the use of leg and possible signs of pain would be monitored and the situation re-evaluated if it worsens. Based off this evaluation, Teresa tried to adopt Ceres to take on her medical needs herself but was blocked by the rescue organization because they believe amputation is a necessity despite an unwillingness to look at the whole picture.

We believe it is in Ceres's best interest to remain in Teresa's care where she feels safe and secure. We believe Teresa will fully support Ceres through her medical needs and will do what is right for Ceres when it is deemed necessary by a trustworthy vet. We believe Ceres is already in her forever home and believe Teresa to be the best caregiver for her. We support the immediate adoption of Ceres to Teresa as she is right now.

Update #14 years ago
Hello everyone and thank you so much for taking the time to read Ceres's story and show your support.

I've been asked for updates, as of right now, the rescue STILL hasn't moved forward with allowing adoption. I have not yet shared this petition as I think it will be needed should they try to take legal action. I am trying to handle this in a respectful and professional fashion with open dialogue. Once I hear back, I will share the progress. Thank you so much for caring about my girl! -Teresa
