CLOSED PLEASE sign OTHER PETITION https://www.thepetitionsite.com/758/130/030/petsmart-to-close-grooming-departments/

To any pet owner, the health, welfare and wellness of their pets is critical.  The love and affection given to a pet and afford by the owner is priceless.  It is unfortunate in today's society that groomers are not required to be licensed such that the health, welfare and wellness of every pet that is groomed are not protected.  Essentially, it is not protected because the groomers have no minimum standards, no license requirements, or no laws the must abide by.  There are also currently no state boards that track injuries and deaths of these nature so there is no way of an owner knowing that an incident has occurred before choosing a groomer.

PetSmart is in the industry which provides grooming services.  All one needs to do is google PetSmart and an overwhelming number of incidents of poor care, or even worse, of even deaths being documented.

Under the current CEO's watch, PetSmart grooming department has been allegedly responsible for causing the injuries and even deaths of pets that have been taken into PetSmart for grooming services.  Recently these issues have been brought to the attention of more people with the use of Social Media. A Facebook post about a pet named Gunner that went viral brought together a large group of people who have had similar experiences with PetSmart Grooming services.  There are hundreds of videos on YouTube from pet owners who have had similar experiences with PetSmart.  There are also videos from former employees discussing situations that have occurred while they were employed at PetSmart.  In his position the CEO would have to be aware of the mass amount of reports coming from customers in reference to their grooming services and the injuries occurring within the grooming departments at multiple locations across the US and Canada.  The executive's not considering this a major issue of concern shows that they need to step down from their executive position of PetSmart.

In order to petition governmental authorities and agencies to more fully understand and appreciate the plight of pets and pet owners we are urging people to join in the crusade to change the face of grooming pets to prevent any untoward incidents form ever occurring again.

Any one reading this, in the same manner anyone reading an Opinion Editorial in a newspaper would have to have an opinion With regard to with what has been said above.  We believe the leader would condemn the practices in this unlicensed, unregulated industry period.

At the forefront of the industry is PetSmart, a company operating or associated with 1500 + locations in the United States clearly, such a company, one would think, would take the position of being the watchdog to protect the health, welfare and wellbeing of all pets.  Of even greater note, is the fact that PetSmart employs more than 55,000 people in these locations.

Any company with a number of locations and employees that PetSmart has would employ reasonably, caring and well intentioned executives.  They would not follow the path like the paths of Penn State University in the Sandusky scandal or Michigan State in the Nassar scandal- where the administrations only became culpable after extensive investigations.  We believe it is now the 13th hour and the executives of PetSmart should face the same scrutiny, investigation and potential sanctions, as appropriate, as referenced in the foregoing and many other horrific injustices.  The CEO and top executives should in a show of good faith voluntarily step down from these positions.  In addition PetSmart should immediately cease all grooming services until at which time the grooming services become a much more regulated industry.  Their voluntary halt to all grooming services will show that they realize this has become a major issue of concern and are willing to put the welfare of pets at the forefront and halt all grooming services until the regulations can be put into effect.

After reading this precis, you either agree with the sentiments expressed or believe some action should be taken (e.g., termination of PetSmart's CEO, COO, etc.)  Please express your support by signing this document

Thank you for taking the time to read this and expressing mutual concern for this just cause.
