Support Colorado's Children, and Re-open ASD20 Schools!

Schools in Academy School District 20 have been closed due to risks associated with COVID-19. The apparent reason for this closure is that not attending in person school is keeping children safe. Not only is the danger grotesquely exaggerated, but there are greater harms associated with not being allowed the right to attend school in person. For these reasons, all schools, and all grade levels in Academy School District 20 should be allowed to return to class, full time, in person, come September 14th.
Closing schools limits access to mental health support, physical activity, food provision, and has even increased abuse concerns. That is uninclusive of the cognitive suffering children endure from not having an in person learning experiance. Furthermore, COVID-19 hardly poses a threat to children going to school, and is directly against the wishes of medical professionals. This virus has a 99.96% survival rate, not accounting for the possibility of case inflation. Taiwan, which has over 23 million citizens, has only had 486 confirmed cases, and schools were never closed. Additionally, children have as little as ⅓ of the chance adults do to catch and transmit COVID-19. School closure is not doing anything to protect against this epidemic, all it is accomplishing is harming our children, and their futures. Put a stop to this injustice, and sign this petition.
