Since 2016 Lions fans have fully adopted the song Africa by Toto as the team song. It has become an center piece of our fan culture that the team has tapped into. The team used "Toto Africa" to announce the signing of Head coach Matt Patricia prior to the 2018 season. During the season they made the song a staple in the jumbotron vote prior to halftime, where it held a perfect record.
As for the song itself it's hit Billboards number 1 spot in the United States and is widely regarded as one of the greatest songs of all time by 80s rock enthusiasts and drunk Karaoke fanatics alike.
This song bridges the gap between generations of NFL fans and fan bases, but its only right that this song get its Thanksgiving halftime show debut in Detroit.
