Justice for Sam The Dog Shot by Randall Villines in Newton County, Arkansas

NEWTON COUNTY, ARKANSAS - On 31DEC2011 Randall Villines shot & killed a 12lb corgi named Sam that was being boarded at the Boondock Saints Animal Sanctuary.
On 01JAN2012 two deputies with the Newton County Sheriffs Office showed up at the gate of the sanctuary with a picture of Sam the Dog, dead (a video of that is viewable on Sam's facebook page).
Friday 06JAN2012 at approximately 10:00PM the owner of the sanctuary, Ms. Kessler's service dog alerted her to her southern fence, which borders Randall Villines property. Ms. Kessler found another dog being trained at the sanctuary trapped in a snare attached to the fence - a snare designed to torture & kill a dog by cutting off the airway & causing lacerations (pictures of those snares, the dog trapped & the ensuing injuries are also posted on Sam's facebook page).
Saturday 07JAN2012 a full inspection was made of the southern fence on the sanctuary's property and a total of 8 snares were discovered, baited with dog food cans. A security camera was set up.
Sunday 08JAN2012 at approximately 1:00PM that security camera was smashed with a large rock.
On Saturday 21JAN2012 at approximately 1:30PM the sanctuary was served with court papers from Randall Villines regarding the death of one of his cows & his subsequent shooting of Sam the Dog. Since two of the snares discovered were covered in blood, it is certain that Sam the Dog was not even on Randall Villines property as stated but actually caught in a snare, resulting in the blood; the other bloody snare was around the neck of the dog the sanctuary owner rescued. Sam the Dog had just been let outside and was going out to the woods to relieve himself - he was shot within 5 minutes of walking out the back door with his caretaker.
On 05FEB2010 another dog was shot thru the right back hind quarter ON SANCTUARY PROPERTY, with the bullet entering the rear of his right hind quarter and lodging just above his penis shaft. HE WAS SHOT AS HE WAS RUNNING AWAY.
This petition respectfully requests that RANDALL VILLINES BE CHARGED WITH AGGRAVATED ANIMAL CRUELTY PER ARKANSAS STATE STATUTE AND THAT RANDALL VILLINES BE GIVEN THE MAXIMUM SENTENCE ALLOWABLE UNDER THE LAW FOR THE SHOOTING OF 3 DOGS, THE KILLING OF ONE DOG, THE SETTING OF ANIMAL TORTURING SNARES AND THE INJURIES INCURRED BY THE DOG THAT WAS CAUGHT IN THE SNARE AND RESCUED ALIVE. Send a message that animal cruelty cannot be tolerated. Offenders must be strenuously and aggressively prosecuted and receive strict punishment, not misdemeanor charges, for abuse and/or injury to animals. We the undersigned respectfully request your swift and immediate attention regarding acts of animal cruelty. We are seeking justice for Sam, a small Corgi, who was brutally slain by Randall Villines on January 21, 2012. Mr. Villines is responsible for several other acts of brutality against domestic animals, including setting deadly snares (death resulting), poisoning, and gunshot wounds to many helpless animals. The founder of Boondock Saints Animal Sanctuary, Mijanou Kessler, is terrorized daily by Mr. Villines and his accomplices. The situation is quickly escalating to put the safety of your citizen's in danger. We request a full investigation be launched, and the perpetrators of these heinous crimes be punished.
