Fain's Corporation Community petition

Brief summary
Fain’s Corp. & partners utilize a holistic approach regarding closed Chicago Public Schools. At the William H. King School, we provide support, programs that address hopelessness in the community through education and skills training in both entrepreneurialism and urban agriculture.

Entrepreneurialism
Fain Corp staff and Chicago business-volunteers mentor youth in the areas of:
• Information Technology
• Computer Hardware Technology
• Sound engineering, film editing, production, radio broadcasting
• Graphic design
• Clothing design technology
Urban agriculture
• Commercial scale growing-training
• Home gardening
• Home-based food-business development
• Using the W. King school facility as a center for selling food, goods, services

Fain’s Corp. & partners believe that tapping into the creative talents of each individual and instilling a deeply rooted love for nature with respect to the local food movement (urban agriculture) provides our disadvantaged youth with an opportunity to greatly appreciate life on a grander scale. We further believe that the technology component offers everyone including older members of our community, a chance to develop skills that can make them become a more productive member of society, as well as remain competitive in local job markets and individual business development.
In short, an urban agriculture initiative combined with an arts & technology program may have a greatly positive impact on urban violence and unemployment. It will also improve the overall conditions in a much needed area of our community.

Sincerely,

Kevin R. Brinson
