Texas Bill Prevents Weather-related Insurance Claims

  • recipient: Governor Greg Abbott and Texas State Legislature
Parts of Texas are devastated from Hurricane Harvey. Human lives have been lost, homes and buildings destroyed, families displaced and the storm hasn't even ended yet. Ironically, Texas recently passed a bill making it harder for folks to file weather-related insurance claims and it's supposed to go into effect September 1.

Sign this petition to ask the Texas Legislature to do a special session immediately and vote to delay the implementation of this bill.

By September 1, many people won't even have an idea of the damage on their property, it is unrealistic and cruel to expect people suffering this greatly to also file complicated paperwork quickly and accurately. If we can't persuade the Texas Legislature to delay the bill, the suffering of the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey will be much more severe.

Please sign today to help Texans whose whole lives have been damaged or even lost.
