Remove Gender Listing from Birth Certificates to Protect Transgendered Children

In Canada, you must be over the age of 18 to change your gender on your birth certificate.  For transgendered children, this limitation can cause embarrassment and stress.  Imagine being a little girl going on vacation with her family, and having to face being listed as a boy on her birth certificate when, in fact, she isn't a boy.

Removing gender listing from birth certificates would prevent this problem.  Many individuals point out that gender listing is important for security; however, this is not the case. Race was previously listed on birth certificates but later removed because it was violating human rights.  Listing gender on a birth certificate and not allowing individuals under 18 to change their gender listing is also a violation of human rights.
