The War on Drugs has never been successful at ending drug abuse, instead it costs US citizens millions in taxes, and has steadily been raising the national debt since the 1970s. The US government has been spreading false information about most famously, marijuana, which was named to sound Mexican on purpose. The government should legalize and tax non addictive psychoactive and psychedelic drugs in the same manner as tobacco and alcohol. Much profit could be made from these substances, which are harmless if used responsibly. Substances such as ketamine, lsd, cannabis, and psilocybin mushrooms, just to name a few, have shown potential anti depressant and therapeutic properties. Dangerous drugs such as heroin, crack cocaine, and methamphetamine will remain illegal, but more attention and money will go towards addiction treatment. Alcohol and tobacco are dangerous, addictive, have no health benefits, but are legal! Come on, think about it! Don't let the government brain wash you!
