As many have seen on the news, there has been injustice in Copiague Public Schools. This is our last and final chance to be heard and supported by our fellow peers and friends of the community. There has been many seniors who are not allowed to walk at this years graduation ceremony due to a prank that occurred on June 9. The prank was taken out of hand by unknown people but US as the students never meant any harm. Our prank was supposed to consist of balloons, silly string and streamers. The night of the prank WE as a class went to the school to go and have fun with our fellow classmates. That was our final moment to really actually bond together, as many know senior prank is a tradition that happens every year. Many students who have been barred from graduation went to school on a plan to have fun. Unfortunately they had to pay for peoples mistakes when they never knew anything that was going on. WE have offered to do community service and were denied. Although we were denied a group of Seniors went to an Awareness Walk Community Clean Up Day on Saturday, June 17,2017, which was about a mile long walk cleaning up the town. Last night, there was a Board of Education meeting where parents and students came together to fight as a whole while there were several students across the street taking a stand for injustice. It has been a long battle getting here, standing out in the rain, tears and love. It is unfair for several students to not be allowed to walk at graduation due to others mistakes and have our families who have traveled from many states just to see us not walk. It has been heartbreaking for families to tell one another that their loved one who they've spent time, money and planning for this day that they can't see them walk across the field and receive their diploma. WE are just students who wanted to have fun and do a prank just like any other class does a prank but took a wrong turn. WE want justice for our Class of 2017 who deserve to walk at graduation because it has been a long 13 years to get to this point and for it to all get taken away, its totally unfair and different actions could have been taken but unfortunately these cruel punishments have been taken. US as the Class of the 2017 ALL want to walk together at graduation and have fun and become ONE big family in our Eagle Nest. EAGLE PRIDE
