In a stunning display of bipartisanship, the House of Representatives voted unanimously 420-0 to make the Mueller report public once the special counsel completes his investigation. The move is a full-throated defense of transparency, which has been perpetually under attack since Trump has taken office.
However, Republican Senator Lindsey Graham, who chairs the Judiciary Committee, blocked the resolution in the Senate. The Trump ally had demanded that the House-passed resolution be amended to include a provision that the Department of Justice appoint another special counsel to investigate Hillary Clinton. If that sounds straight out of the Trump playbook, it's because it is.
Yet while Graham continues to do Trump's bidding, the American people have been uncompromising in their calls to have the report released to the public, unredacted. A staggering 87 percent of Americans support its release.
We, the undersigned, demand that Senate Republicans stop protecting Trump and instead defend the rule of law that they swore to uphold. The future of this democracy is at stake, and unless Republicans change course, they will be complicit in its downfall.
