Dear Sir,
We the undersigned are against the continuation of the construction of a fisherman%u2019s ramp on St. Thomas Bay Beach in The Valley, Virgin Gorda.
It has been said numerous times that the people of Virgin Gorda are in full support of this ramp. We are in support of a fisherman%u2019s ramp, but we are NOT in support it being in this area and of the continued destruction of this beach.
We are extremely hurt that based on the numerous complaints that have been made by residents of Virgin Gorda that this project has moved on. Fishing is a valuable natural resource for our communities but so is the Natural Beauty of our islands. Do we destroy one to provide for the other or do we find ways to keep both alive?
Today, we are at a point where we have tons of concrete paved on the beach and the project is in trouble. We DO NOT want to spend an extra $40 000.00 to continue the destruction. We will not look backwards and ask why? We are however, moving forward and standing as ONE in Virgin Gorda and saying NO to the continuation of this ramp.
We are asking you as the Minister of Natural Resources and Labour to consider the natural beauty and wonders of our BVI. We the people of Virgin Gorda and the BVI cannot afford to lose such a magnificent natural landmark. NO we cannot and will not lose the last few remaining natural beauties of our beautiful Virgin Islands.
We are asking you to consider these things before you move forward and reshape this beach forever:
. consider the children that love swimming and learning to swim on this beach
%uFFFD consider the residents that love to walk/run from one side of the beach to the next
%uFFFD consider the seniors that utilize this beach to soak because of it's easy access
%uFFFD consider the pleasures this beach have provides to us year after year for our Easter festival wet fete
