Amend the Alameda City Council Call for Review Process

The Alameda City Council Call for Review process allows a single City Council Member to override existing Alameda Planning Board approvals without just cause. This procedure gives an abundance of power to one individual, holds up Alameda infrastructure projects, potentially cost business applicants thousands of dollars spent in good faith after receiving Board approval, damages Alameda's reputation with business that may want to re-locate to Alameda and exposes the City (and our tax dollars) to unnecessary legal action.

The Alameda Chamber of Commerce is calling for an amendment the the Call for Review process, requiring at least three Council Members to agree with the Call for Review, making it consistent to the Council's existing process for Referral of Items to be placed on the Council Agenda.

The Council has appointed the Planning Board to study, weigh and decide on issues under its purview and should allow them to do so without interference except under extraordinary circumstance agreed to by a majority of Council Members.

Please join the Alameda Chamber of Commerce by signing this petition and sending our City Council the message that one individual should not have the power to override the majority and put Alameda's reputation and Financial integrity at risk.
